The Main idea of the story is that Della whants buy a boy named Jim somthing for chrismas, but she only has enough money to buy him somthing beacuse she only has $1.87 to spend on him and she want's to get other people somthing to for chrismas.Beacuse she want's them to get her somthing to so so wont buy them all of those presents for nothing.

So beacuse Della does'nt have enough money to buy every one somthingfor chrismas,so she cuts her hair for $20 so she can have more money to buy more presants for people and her friend Jim she thinks that it was a good deal beacuse she needed the money any way hair will grow back.She also wanted to cut her hair beacuse it was getting to long anyway.

Della has now $21.87 to spend but she thinks that it is not enough to give every one a present for chrismas, so she steels jewlery from her dad for chrismas beacuse they are the watches that her dad doesn't where any more beacuse he has other beter one's.So she is doing what ever it takes to get people a presnt, beacuse if she gives presents than she might get what she wanted for chrismas.

Main Idea:

In the story "Gift of the Magi'' there was a women who name was Della and she was really poor. And It was a day before christmas when Della was counting the money that she had been saving up for months but since she was very poor she had only saved up a dollor and eighty-seven . But it wasnt enought ot buy Jim, her husband, a present that he diserved. So she thought of selling something that she had that meant a lot to her. So she decided to sell her hair which was really long it went down to her knees and she even had to let it hang out the window just so she can let it dry. So she sold it to a women for twenty dollors to buy Jim a chain for his watch, instead of the string of leather he had.

When Della went to go meet up with Jim, Jim was surprised when he saw that Della had cut off her hair. Della was disappointed in the look of his face. But Jim handed her the present that he had got for her. And she opened it and it was a set of combs for her hair which were really expesive. And for him to buy it for her he had to sell his watch. So they had decided to hold off on the gift because Della had no hair to comb and Jim didnt have a watch to put his cain on.

So in the story things didnt go the way they wanted it to because they both gave away somthing that meant a lot to them so they could give the other a good gift.

What i thought the main idea of the story was that there was no money to buy christmas presents so what they sold what they had in order of making the one they love be happy.
Well there is a lady who's name was Mrs.James Dillinham Young also known as Della in the story. She was married to a guy who's name was Mr.James Dillinham Young. They were not high class people nor they were middle class either.
Della wanted to get her husband something nice fo rthe upcomming holiday witch would be Christamas. Della only had one doller-and eighty-seven cents and as you can see that isnt alot. So what Della knew sh ehad to d something if sh ewanted to get her husband something nice.
Della would do the impossible so she could get her husband something. So she did, Della most treasured part was her hair. Sh ehad seen a sighn witch said "Mme.Sofrine.HairGood of All Kinds" So what she did was she went and sold her hair for twenty dollers. As soon as she was done she hurried and bought her husband the perfect gift. She had gotten him a Fob Chain witch was a short chain meant to be attached to a pocket watch.
After she bought it she quickly went to her house and got ready for her husband. As she was finnished he arrived and saw his wife with no hair he was shocked not because he found her un-attractive, But because the present he got her was some nice beautiful combs. And what Della had gotten her husband he couldnt use either because he sold his watch to buy Della her present. So what they both treasured the most about them self they sold to buy eachother the perfect present but neither got to use.

The main idea of the story was about a girl named Della who liked a guy named Jim. Della wanted to get Jim a good present for christmas. But there was one problem Della could not get Jim a good present with only $1.87. So then Della was thinking of a good present to get Jim, then something poped up in her mind, she thought she can cut her hair off that went below her knee.
Then Della cut her hair and got tweenty dollors. With the tweenty dollors Della had bought Jim a double fab chain. Then she went to the coffee place around 7 o'clock which Jim is always at. Then she heard Jims footsteps then she hid it.
When Jim walked in with a stair that he just couldnt believe when he saw Della. Then she said dont look at me that way, she told him that she cut of her hair to get money to buy a present for him. Then when Della gave him the present she said try this on with your watch. He said, i cant he said he sold it to buy you combs. Then they gave and recieved their gifts.

The main idea was mostly about Della trying to find anything to do just to make money to buy a Christmas present for her boyfriend. she thought cutting her ahir was a good idea to do. later she thought it was a bad idea because she was worried that her boyfriend might not like it. Later when she got the chain and watch she went to go see her boyfriend and he saw that she cut her hair but thought it looked nice. Jim said that what you do to your hair shouldnt upset me, so for her not to worrie how she looks because he likes it. The both of them had tried to buy a present . but they got paid very little. then trying to go out and make money was kind of harder and they love eachother so much that they had to buy something for the one they love and they were called the wiest ones. The both of them, Della and Jim were both happy for Christmas and had eachother.

People are willing to give up anything for the person they love.For example with Della and Jim, they had 2 important items. They were Della's long hair and Jim's gold watch.
They wanted to get each other the perfect gift. Della ended up selling her hair to get money. Jim ended up selling his watch to get money too. The thing is, they didnt know about each other's sacrifice.
So Della ended up buying Jim a watch and Jim bought a set of combs for her hair. They knew they got the perfect gifts for one another.
When they exchanged gifts they were surprised by what the other one had done but i think it proved how much they cared about each other. They gave up their prizes possesions for each other and it just shows how much people are willing to give anything for the person they love...

della only had one daller and eighty-sevencents. she wanted to buy jim something good and expensive, but she didn't have enough money. so she looked all over town just to see what she was goning to buy him. della had butiful hair that wasup to her knees. della then saw a chain that wasgreat for jims whach so she went to this lady, and asked her"do you buy hair."the lady replyed " yes i do ,loet see your hair." then della said "how much is it werth?"so the lady said "$20 dollers." so wen della was done cuting her hair. she now had$ 21.87 . she then went to the store and bought the chain. after that she went home got all dressed up for jim and set the table. when she was all done she she wated for jim to come home. when he came home he had this look on his face that della couldn't read. then della asked "are you made at me because i cut my hair." then jim said "its not the hair," then he threw a box on the tableand della opened it. she then saw the comb that she always wanted. they were pure tortoise combs, with jeweied rims. she then handed he the box that had the chain andthe opened it .he then put his hands on his head. then della said "i want to see how the whach looks on the chain." jim then said lets put them away.then he comfest to della about what he did, he said that he sold the whach so he could buy her the box of comb.so at the end they both recieved samething and lost something.

Main Idea

In the "Gift of the Maji", a woman and her husband sacrifice their most valuable possesions in order to get the perfect gift for each other.
Della begins with $1.87 in change and heads to a woman's hair shop to sell her hair. Now with $21.87, Della looks through all the stores untill she finds a gold chain. She buys the chain for Jim's watch and heads home.
Jim comes home with a gift, wrapped in paper, for Della. Jim watches as Della opens the gift and finds a set of combs. Jim had sold his watch to buy Della the expencive combs for her hair.

The main idea of this story was for Jim and Della to buy each other a gift for Christmas, but that surely was enough money for the both of them to buy something is it? So they both went out and tried to find a way to make money, Jim went to work and Della went to the streets. Della tries her hardest to find money so Jim could have a good Christmas.

So she searched everywhere to get money, then suddenly stumped upon a store that buys hair. So she goes there and asks if they will buy her hair and they did, they gave her $20 for it. So she goes and searches for a perfect present for Jim and she finds a chain for his watch. So she buys it and then awaits at home nervously for Jim to come home, thinking "i hope he still thinks I'm pretty."

So Jim then walks through the door looks at Della and has a stunned look on his face a look like "oh my god what have you done." He then puts a package on the table and tell her to open it. So she does and then find combs very expensive combs. Then she gave Jim his and he said Della why don't we put these gifts up, there way to expensive to be used as Christmas. She asks why and he says "cause i sold my watch to buy you'r combs.

Main Idea

Della was a woman who lived in New York, and she didn't have a lot of money. It was Christmas Eve and one dollar and eighty-seven cents was all that belonged to her; no more, no less. She desperately wanted to buy her husband, Jim, something nice for Christmas, but she hadn't the money for it.

Although they weren't the richest people in the world, the couple had two possessions that they took much pride in. One was a gold watch that Jim's father and grandfather, before him, owned. The other was Della's hair.

Della decided that she was going to give something to Jim for Christmas no matter what. So, she sold her hair for twenty dollars. With her $21.87, she searched town for Jim's watch, and bought one.

When Jim came home, he owned a peculiar expression on his face towards Della's hair. She handed him the chain. When she asked him to take his watch out to wee what they looked like with each other, he could not. He, too, had sold his most prized possession for a set of combs Della had been wanting.

They decided to put the gifts away for a while. The couple sacrificed something of theirs to buy a gift the other could not use at the time. Still, they were happy and continued on with their lives.
