Well first all we know that it could of been rabies because as Dr. Micheal Benitezs said, ''A diagnosis is not always easy or stright forward. The incbation period in humansmay be as long as a year''. But they had no evidence of a bite or scratch marks. But the physicians knew how rabies were transmited at the time of Poe's death. They were also sadden to hear the fate of Caterina, Poe's cat, they had suggested that he got rabies for her. But later on they found out that the cat died because of starvation, when she got deserted by Clemm after Poe's death. So we know that it wasn't rabies. no evidence of transmition.

We know that Poe had problems with alcohol as a younger man. So we know that when he died at forty he almost always avoided it. But he sent Snodgrass a dire note warning that Poe needed '' immediate assistance''. And when snodgrass at Gunner Hall he found Poe sitting on an armchair. He had a vacant stupidiy look on his face as if her were drunk. But yet they don't know if he died because of the alcohhol.


Morgan later vigorously disputed the explanation of the death of lethal amouont of alcohol.However , some Baltimore newspaper gave the cause of death as congestion of th brain or cerbral inflammation. But some poelpe kept on thinking that he died because of the alcohol.

It could of been cerebral inflanmation beacause he could of been to drunk to protect himslef for the winds and the rain.But then it could of been congestion of the brain or becaus ethey didn't have evidence of what happend to him in th time od October 3. But yet they dont know what it was.

Those were my reasons why and why not it couls of been rabies, drinking, and head problems. They were good evidence but most of all i think he died of to much drinking. They always daid that he drank. So that what i think. What do you think he died of??
